Interference

Interference with the measurement process can be intentional or unintentional.  In the measurement of a property involved in a real estate transaction, the measurement operator is conducting a test for a homebuyer who is not in control of the property.  A property owner, real estate agent, or third party contractor can knowingly or unknowingly skew test results.  Some Quality Assurance and Quality Control practices that can minimize or prevent outside interference are:

  1. Pre-test Consultation with homeowner/agent/builder.
  2. A signed “non-interference” agreement
  3. Interference-resistant detectors
  4. Tamper tape placed on windows
  5. Radon Test-In-Progress notification signage
  6. Placement markers.
