Passive System Design

Radon Resistant New Construction

Often referred to as Radon Resistant New Construction or Passive New Construction, this design method relies on convective airflows to vent radon from below the slab naturally without the power of a fan.

  • Ideally, passive systems are designed with as few vent pipes and as few bends as possible to allow the best opportunity for natural convective airflow yet may consist of multiple vent pipes, including vertical and angled runs joined to a single termination above the roof. True passive systems have all the necessary components for activation with the exception of the vent fan.
