Signed into law August 13, 2012 as Public Act 97-0953.
The bill amends the Radon Industry Licensing Act.
Provides for the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to have primary responsibility for State radon mitigation efforts.
Requires all new residential construction to include passive radon resistant construction.
Allows local governmental units to administer and enforce its radon construction regulations that are at least as stringent as those established by the Agency.
Requires recommendations by the Task Force on Radon-Resistant Building Codes by January 1, 2013 regarding radon resistant construction in new residential construction.
Generally effective June 1, 2013, except that the provisions relating to recommendations by the Task Force on Radon-Resistant Building Codes take effect upon becoming law.
