Thermal bypasses are indoor pathways that draw warm air upwards, enhancing stack effect and depressurizing the house. They allow inside air to flow directly into the attic. Some Thermal Bypasses:
- Recessed lighting fixtures
- Air gap around chimneys
- Plumbing chases
- Balloon frame walls
- Non-mechanical attic vents
As warm air flows up through the thermal bypasses, the rest of the house is depressurized.
